Repairing a Vintage Bear

A friend recently asked me if I could create new ears for her well loved 1960s teddy bear. He's been without ears for so many years now. He is a lovely large bear made from golden mohair and filled with wood wool. He has no maker's marking but she believes he may be a Chad Valley. Here is his before picture;

This is the first time I've ever made repairs to a vintage bear, so I was a little nervous. I found a good match to the mohair and had fun distressing the fabric with some scissors, tweezers and a nail file! I was really pleased with the results and here he is;

complete with an antique lace collar tied with suede and a couple of rusty bells.
